No suggestiong per se....

Devices are really meant to be created dynamically now.
You CAN feed static devices to the dynamic creator of
devices though /lib/udev/devices

MAKEDEV should NOT be used anymore.  I'd love to know what
"packages" are trying to call MAKEDEV (directly or indirectly).
