the mbr is at the beginning of the disk and the partition about which you
are asking is somewhere are that, sorry forgot the numbers you posted.  if
you "delete" the partition it just frees up the space for something else.
to fix xp you have to fix the boot process so that when you point to the xp
partition it will send it to the correct place.  once the boot process
starts and transfers to the xp partition, the system files have to be there
and in the correct location so that xp will boot to a login screen if you
don't have autologon enabled.
