Sorry to hear about your experience with Fedora.

I would like to point out while there are many upgrade paths available  
for Fedora (yum, PreUpgrade, etc.), the only SUPPORTED upgrade path is  
using physical media. You didn't state how you upgraded, but it sounds  
like you upgraded with yum. That is successful for a lot of users, but  
generally requires a lot of clean up.

Personally I keep /home on it's own partition. That way I am free to  
clean install each Fedora release and also matain all my data.
