Members of NTLUG,
This Saturday, March 20th, The North Texas Linux User's Group(NTLUG)
is pleased to invite you to our presentation by Peter Hanson. The
presentation is titled:
"Using infrared receivers with LIRC and a universal remote to control
an HTPC running MythTV"
Peter is going to share his experiences with a few IR receivers, show
how to setup the configuration files for LIRC, and demonstrate its use.
There will be comparisons of setup for Gentoo, Debian, and openSUSE.
LIRC(www.lirc.org) is a package that allows you to decode and send
infra-red signals of many (but not all) commonly used remote controls.
Lirc is supported in just about all Linux based multimedia programs.
Lirc can also be used to send other key sequences to your computer to
stop, start and control a variety of things. Peter has said this is one
of the most interesting parts of LIRC to him.
NTLUG meets at King of Glory Lutheran Church. We meet under the
auspices of NTPCUG and membership in that group is required for people
