[NTLUG:Discuss] KDE4.3 print problem

Am running opensuse 11.2/KDE4.3.5 and have a 
print problem. Seems that clicking on the "Print" 
option in most apps just freezes the app. Openoffice
is an exception, it works just fine. Not sure which
print subsystem OO uses but if something tries to 
use kprint it goes off to lala land... no pdf file printing, etc.

Gimp will launch a print window (blank, of course) and then 
freezes until the X is clicked on the print window and the
system kills that window. Unlike other apps, at that point 
Gimp is then functional again.

I have looked around and haven't found anything that
helps. I have the latest updates... it is probably a bug
in one of the libraries but which one and how to kill it?
It is damned frustrating to not be able to print files unless
I push them over to my old KDE3 box and print them from
there.
