[NTLUG:Discuss] Advice? RE Untangle appliance long shutdown tone

I bought a SolidLogic Atom GS-LO5 Mini-ITX box from Logic Supply running Untangle (based on Debian Lenny) = 2.6.26-2-untangle-686.

Box runs fine, but while stopping or rebooting several times during configuration, at times the shutdown beep wasn't just a beep -- it was a prolonged, loud tone that lasted during the entire shutdown process. And it doesn't even have the decency to happen on every shutdown; rather, it happens intermittently. About 1 time out of 5.

I contacted Logic Supply. Their techs tried to recreate, but could not, so approved an RMS for a fix.

But I'm not so certain I want to go thru the hassle of boxing it up, paying for a return (they'll pay to ship back to me if it turns out to be a real problem), etc.

Advice? I'm just asking here for other people's wisdom/experience. Since the box will be running continuously, there won't be that many times I'd have to suffer thru a one-note shutdown concert. I haven't detected any other problem, but could this behavior be a warning of some problem in development?

Would you recommend disabling the speaker, or the tone generator on shutdown?

Or would you recommend I send the box back.

Thanks.
