Ralph,
I'm also VERY suspect of DNS and implemented some changes awhile
back....rather than using their DNS info - I have gone to using: 4.2.2.2
and 8.8.8.8
And just for grins....I'm having one of those 'cant connect' moments right
now....here's a dig result:
dsimmons at daves-LinuxMint10 ~ $ dig google.com
; <<>> DiG 9.7.1-P2 <<>> google.com
;; global options: +cmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
maybe I should reverse their order or get rid of 4.2.2.2 altogether. I know
it's been around forever..maybe it's showing it's age.
BUT...still would like to (finally) figure out the best way to build/create
such a network analyzing device. I think it would be helpful not just in
this application, but also for a wide variety of uses to understand who's
doing what on my network?
