[NTLUG:Discuss] Data recovery - help

Been following this thread with interest and had to get my concern to  
attention of group. This is a new Toshiba which when 160 GB external is plugged  
in one hears audible connection, but no evidence in my computer of device.  
However when I go to control panel+devices there it is When right click I  
see oblong info ID with 2 tabs, general and hardware. Clicking on hardware 
tells  me lower area that device is working. Trouble Shooting gets same 
results. Hope  butting in will be excused and someone will shed light for this 
confused old  man
