[NTLUG:Discuss] video editing solved

My minimal video editing problems have been solved and I thought I'd
share a little of that with those who gave me input, and those who may
be interested as well ... the discussion is only partly OT as it is all
on Linux

My camera is a Canon PowerShot A70 and default video mode is 320x240,
and 15fps, and those are not the defaults in Kdenlive (for example), so
editing there works fine, but rendering the file gives a bucket of "oh, no!"

A couple of other stabs later and Avidemux, which takes what I have and
out puts it the same, unless I ask it to do otherwise ... I didn't have
to select any settings, although the software displays those values if I
want to see them.

Avidemux has problems seeing the audio output device and editing seems
to amount to real basic stuff (mark and delete, and append) ... so ...

I preview the video from the camera in MoviePlayer and not the edit
points (time references)
I open the video in Avidemux and starting at the rear, mark and delete
the unwanted section
... then I can view the edited version before or after saving (as a new
file), and of course save.
Once I have two or more video files from the camera edited down to their
desired content, I can open/append them in Avidemux, and save as the final.
Final view/review is done (for me) in MoviePlayer again.

More detail upon request, but it ain't rocket science, and it works for
me and my needs
Regards
Fred James
