[NTLUG:Discuss] Good meeting today, call to action, good stuff

So... at today's meeting we had a great discussion about some "work" items...

1. Discussed the idea of having planned extended meetings (9am - 2pm) for doing
something more like a class on some topic.  Cory is offering to kick things off
with a full time slot class on ESXi what will likely cover installation,
configuration and creating guests, etc.

Action item for Cory... pick a month to shoot for (as you know, we're usually
pretty open).  Action for the rest... if you think you'd like to do one of these
longer class-like settings... volunteer.

2. Discussed having a "Linux Fair".  We have not had one in many years now and
they were really quite successful in the past.  Trying to revive a good
tradition.  However, since we're meeting at KoG with NTPCUG, the idea this time
might be to have a Fair together WITH them.  Dennis Rice has offered to lead the
charge for NTLUG on getting this going.  We discussed a lot of good ideas today,
I'm sure more than enough to keep Dennis's head spinning.... Right now, we're
thinking October regular meeting day for the fair.

Action item for Dennis... work with Howard Harkness of NTPCUG and try to figure
out wall all "players" and "responsibilities" need to be created to pull things
off.  I'm sure Dennis will be asking for help.... so action for the rest of the
group... VOLUNTEER!!

3. We elected Chris Cox (who?) and Stuart Yarus to a 3 year term on the NTLUG
board.  With that said, the board REALLY needs your input if you want to take a
more active role inside of NTLUG, especially with regards to being an officer,
e.g. President (to replace Darth Chris... please...), Treasurer, Secretary, etc.
 Personally I think Ralph Green would make a good officer.... he graciously
volunteered to do some write ups for inclusion in the NTPCUG newletter.
Obviously, anyone can contribute news bits and write ups for that effort... I
declare Ralph to be the point person on that.  He'll work with Chuck Fielder
from NTPCUG on that.

Action for all... run (well... there's not much to do to "run"... just be
willing) for office, volunteer for other things, like contributing to the NTLUG
section of the newsletter, etc.  If you want to get more involved, talk to the
board and let them know you want to do more... and keep bugging the board if you
feel that no action is taking place... and if that doesn't work, remember that
we do ELECT the board :-)

I really enjoyed the meeting today (the meeting where the announcement never
went out).. btw... Stuart Yarus will be helping out a bit on management of our
mail lists... maybe even the wiki based web site (AND anyone else can help out
there too, btw).

Good stuff... looking forward to great things to come in NTLUG.
