John,
Several points here. First, you say any suggestions appreciated.
Foremost, I'd say just delete Windows completely and run Linux. You'll
be much happier in the long run.

There is no meeting on Oct 21. We meet on the third Saturday most
months and this month we meet on Oct 15.

This month, we are conducting the Software Fair in conjunction with
other members of the NTPCUG group. I hope you will come and see all the
software people have to demonstrate. It will be a mixture of Windows
users and Linux users doing the demos. The last I heard, there were
more Linux users, but both are welcome. The Software Fair probably
means that the Linux Installation project will not get much, if any
attention. Maybe someone will speak up here and tell me they plan to be
in the LIP room, but I don't expect it. That means this meeting may not
be the best time to get the help you want. I suspect we could work
something else out, if you don't want to wait until the November
meeting. What part of town do you live in? Maybe someone close can
arrange to meet you and work on it over dinner.

I use VirtualBox quite a bit. I am not trying to discourage you from
using it, but did anyone see the messages on the kernel list recently
about it? One of the kernel developers decided to mark VirtualBox as
tainting the kernel. He said it was the cause of a significant fraction
of reported kernel crashes in Linux.
Good day,
Ralph
