Howdy,
  I tried it a couple of years ago.  I thought it worked fine, but I
decided on a different approach for my backups.  Bacula, which is what
I assume you really refer to has been updated recently.  The wiki is a
little out of date and comments about a coming update in 2009(version
3)  Ubuntu has version 5.2.5 in their repository and version 5.2.13
was released just over a month ago.
