[NTLUG:Discuss] Binding a device to an event ID

This seems like it would be a common question. But Google has not been
my friend.

I have a Contour ShuttleXPress that I use with kdenlive.
fgrep Contour -A4 /proc/bus/input/devices
N: Name="Contour Design ShuttleXpress"
P: Phys=usb-0000:00:14.0-1.2/input0
S:
Sysfs=/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb3/3-1/3-1.2/3-1.2:1.0/input/input9
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=mouse1 event8

Kdenlive needs the event number to find the shuttle. The event ID is not
always the same. Is is annoying to have to fgrep the ID and change the
config on kdenlive every time I reboot.

Is there a way to assign an event ID to a device? Or a way to make
kdenlive find the device when the ID changes?
