*Yes; *
*At last week's FWLUG meeting I did an ICS demonstration. We used a laptop
to receive an Internet connection via it's WiFi interface and shared it
over the ethernet port to a wireless switch, using a Buffalo model
WHR-300HP router operating in switch mode, (router function turned off).
In other words, we created an open hotspot complete with DHCP and
nameserver.*
*Some may want to set up DHCP as well as caching nameserver functions on a
PC and disable those functions on the router. In other words, shift one or
both of those server functions to a PC. It's pretty easy. A particular
feature of interest would be static leases; Some routers do not have the
static lease option and you can easily shift the function to a PC and have
a more flexible and feature rich network.*
