When debugging, you have to precise and consistent. :)

2) what IP do you get and what DNS server does it come from?
I get 129.120.231.230 for both, but
they are way different DNS records.

Try dig +trace on both.. This will show you if the initial step (DNS
resolution) is a problem.
If you CAN resolve the name to a IP address, then step 2 is having a
network route that works.

Interesting note: On my home network and my laptop, +trace by itself
basically fails.

Anyway, www.unt.edu is indeed up and working.  Despite the dig_trace issue,
I can ping and surf the UNT website just fine.
There seems to be an exception around dig sending lots of DNS requests,
maybe in network manager on the lappy.
Everything else works as advertised, especially useful ones like this:

I can surf any other sites.

If I use other wireless source such starbucks, I can connect to unt.edu. so
My cell or laptop are O.K.
