  Thank you for responding.   I'll go over those commands and be sure
I have seen each one in action.  I completely agree about doing it on
a real install.  I have an install of Oracle Linux corresponding to
RHEL 5.  I'm downloading Oracle version 7 today.  I liked Oracle 5
because updates came in easily, while there were problems with CentOS
updates.  Maybe that is all better now., but Oracle seems safer.
