Stu,
I am lost. WIN11 will not install unless you are hardware compliant. Several
of my computers are not CPU and TPM 2.0 compliant.
I am assuming your PC is hardware compliant and Micro$oft allowed the
download and install. Micro$oft always wants you to approve EULA. I've only
gotten around EULA when I clone systems. In prior installs, they have the
default that you needed to have a Micro$oft account. There was an option to
get around the default without a Micro$oft account. I am expecting the
option to go away someday. At that time my Micro$oft account may originate
from China. No one will question that.
My question: What behavior has changed on Micro$oft? Is M$ account required?
Has the option to not have a M$ account gone away.

Something not one bit Unix, for a change, but still:
My on-the-road laptop blocked logins until agreeing to upgrade to Windows
11. Big disappointment right there, not one bit unexpected.
Backed it out within 15 minutes after it started up.
There are only two good aspects about all this mess:
- the upgrade backs out just fine, in realistic time, and
- all my Windows 10 stuff appears to be unharmed.
This could have ended way worse. Might want to get backups ready before
11 hits you, in case stuff goes sideways.
I full realize that this is a Unix/Linux/*BSD-oriented group, but many of us
have to use Windows here and there, so better beware.
