Problem: XPM image format save is not yet implemented:
Solution: Use XV or IMAGE MAGIC to
convert your image to XPM.
Problem: The current GIMP does not provide
layers or other features contained in the development (and highly
unstable) releases. Solution: This is very very ugly, but
for the time being, there's no alternative. Set up two GIMP
lib directories , say /usr/local/lib/gimp54 and
/usr/local/lib/gimp61, put two .gimprc files into your root
directory; one named .gimprc54 and .gimprc61 each configured for the
particular versions they correspond to, and write two simple shell
scripts that will do something like this:
