For those who missed today's meeting.... WHICH was VERY good btw (thanks
Richard!), in September we're having our 2nd Linux Fair. This is
nice in that it follows shortly after the official 10th anniversary
of Linux and September is the anniversary date of the North
Texas Linux Users Group.
Like the fair we had last year, we will have to limit entries.
But first, what is a Linux Fair?
Basically it will be a show-and-tell session. People will have their
own equipment setup for demonstration. This will allow others to
ask questions informally (going station to station).
So... who can participate?
Essentially anyone, however, we can't handle 100 machines at Nokia.
So... we need to limit the number down to 10 or less. If you
have a machine configuration that you think is a good representative
system... if you have an environment that you would like to
show-off.... if you think you have something truly unique running
Linux... please submit an entry.
Rick Cook and I will most likely be the ones to ultimately
select from the entries to try to get a nice, broad representation
of Linux in various forms. For example: Non-intel boxes, different
distributions, server-centric, desktop-centric, RAID, clusters,
DVD, 3D, network appliance.... this is by no means a complete list...
Please feel free to mail the following information to
cjcox at acm.org or rcook at ntlug.org
1. Your contact info (email is fine and preferred... but need real name)
2. System details (what distribution, kernel level, SW, HW... as much
as you can give us.... the more detail the better chance you will
have to be selected).
3. Any special requirements/questions.
Linux is free. Life is good.
Happy 10th Linux!
Chris
