Title: Linux Trials and Successes: Compaq N610c Laptop

(first, I apologize for the late notice and realize some
will probably read this after the meeting has already
take place... my oops... again!)

The presentation will cover the goals of deploying
a Linux desktop environment for a team of developers
using SuSE 8.2, VMware (SLES 8, RHAS 2.1, W2K Pro),
Crossover Office (Office 2000), Xine, OpenGL support.

It will also cover issues on the Compaq N610c (this is
NOT a Linux friendly laptop) and how we solved them.

We'll cover the scripts needed to make the unit function
as well as some of the features that work (most everything
does work now).  Also we'll examine the scripts used to
deploy the laptops to ensure a personalized workspace
for each developer.

And... we've got some really nice door prizes, including
a full boxed SuSE 8.2, some Antec cold cathode sound
activated lights (ooooooh), and our normal selection
of books from Pearson/Prentice Hall/Addison Wesley.

We'll also have 2 donated, sealed boxed SuSE 8.2 Pro for
sale for $50 each (normally these are $80).  I wanted
to let you know that since not everyone will have $50,
so if your interested, first come first server.  Proceeds
will go to NTLUG stuff.

Also (yep.. there's more...) we need to schedule our
annual Linux Fair... which I'd like to have in
November... but we can probably do October... anyway,
I'd solicit your ideas...  I like cold weather, but
I know schedules are cramped during Nov/Dec.
