I've become enamored with portable media players!!
They're cute and cuddly.
Everyday, people make posts about media conversion on
the fan based forums associated with those players.
Often times it is because the software included
with the players do not do an adequate job of
converting all media types or just do a poor job
with what they do support.
Apple dominates the media space and despite
recent publicity, they are promoters of DRM and
support DRM media formats.
Interestingly, mplayer and mencoder, which are
free, have answers to many of the questions. And
of course, if you're a media junky, you might
just give Linux a try so you can have better
media handling tools (that are free).
I'll take a look at some of the common questions
posed on the forums and how mplayer/mencoder
are the answer to those problems.
>From converting Quicktime, Windows Media formats,
to free formats like Ogg and Theora... we'll look
at what work, what works best, what works better
for your conscience, etc.
