Funny you should mention this, I just last night finished
a *simple* Linux file server for a friend's MAC.  I know
NOTHING about the MAC, and all he knew was how to use
Photo Shop.  We essentially configured the TCP/IP control
panel on the MAC for a static private IP address (10.1.1.2),
and got an FTP client for the MAC called Fetch:

It took all of about 45 minutes, and 20 of that was spent
searching the net for a MAC FTP client!
