Since you asked.... While many of us, in particular the programmers,
hackers and admins, may not be interested in sales presentations:
1. There may be members who are interested. If so, hopefully you'll hear
from them.
2. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with a sales pitch. It's a chance
to hear the pluses of one product and the minuses of the competition. FWIW.
3. To grow the Linux user community, the application users and programmers
need to be included. These are folks who do not do Linux or even computers
24 hours a day. Such a presentation is a way to see a product demo, get
feedback from other folks, and socialize.
The previous sentence, taken by itself, sounds like the last few main
meetings we've had. The difference is that paid salesmen (all right,
flacks) weren't involved.
Is that a problem?
