Brian,

Since I just started using diald on Tuesday,
I'll admit that I'm no expert, but I *think*
you can filter out various packets so that they
don't trigger diald to initiate a connection.

first, check to make sure that you have a line like:

include /usr/lib/diald/standard.filter

in your diald configuration file.  This file is
*usually* located at:  /etc/diald.conf

There may be enough info commented in the standard.filter
file to figure out how to ignore these packets.  If not,
I seem to remember reading about filtering in the FAQ that
is included in the diald distro.
