[NTLUG:Discuss] Taming diald

I've been trying to figure out why my diald daemon will bring up a
connection at seemingly random times. Thanks to a packet sniffer called
protolog, I've discovered the kids' machine, which is usually booted to
Windows, is spewing forth various netbios messages, which I can filter
out.
More perplexing is that my host is trying to resolve itself. Every 30
seconds, on the money, a udp packet is sent from ports 749 and 760.
Sometimes 959-961, and 841-843. The only defined ports I've found in
/etc/service is the following:
kerberos-adm 749/tcp # Kerberos `kadmin' (v5)
krbupdate 760/tcp kreg # Kerberos registration
Can somebody give me an idea of what's going on here? I'm not too sure
where to even start searching the LDP...
