The boot disks on RH, and a few others, are MSDOS or FAT partitioning,
they use the SYSLINUX for the boot process, not LILO.  What distro are
you using?
Looking back it appears you are using Slack...  sorry, working through
this.. it is monday.

Usually when you just see the LI or LIL it means it is only able to load
the "loader" portion of lilo and not the actual "working" part...  it
loads the fist half and has trouble loading the second.  (What ever I
think I mean...)

Anyway...  

I just grabbed the latest bare.i from ftp.cdrom.com.  It worked for me
(and does use minix for the FS).  What version of the rawrite and
Slackware are you trying?  And I assume you have tryed several
diskettes...
