Apologies for continuing the off-topic thread, but those of you arguing that
the new millenium doesn't begin for another year are woefully mistaken.
You are basing your arguments upon fact and evidence, and as everybody knows
these are outdated mechanisms for supporting one's points of views.
The truly enlightened among us realize that truth stems from the perception of
the mass populous, not from some archaic "facts."
Those of you who are strictly confined to the archaic means of thinking of
things in terms of "black and white" will find this unacceptable and, in so
doing, reveal your own ignorance.
The validity of public perception as truth cannot be disputed, for even that
bastion of truth and integrity, our illustrious leader Bill Clinton, has said
that although most strict correctionists say that the new millenium begins 1
Jan 2001, the public has decided that the new millenium starts in 2000 so, to
paraphrase, "we've got a democracy here, so that's the way we're going." If
such thinking is good enough for the leader of the free world and, arguably,
the most powerful man in the world, then surely it's good enough for you!
I'd be happy to provide a reference to the link, but proof is *SO* 20th
century!
(Also, the curse of the internet strikes again and, despite having read his
referenced quotes on CNN's web site the other day, I am now completely unable
to find reference to the story.)

it when it broadsides you in the quantities found above!]
