Yes, perhaps my comments above were a bit harsh, but harsh seemed
appropriate. I only know two things for certain when 'stuff' like this
crops up on a public list: (1) no one else but the participants gives
a flying fsck who's right or wrong; (2) it's never acceptable on a
decently-run public mailing list, but especially not a community list.

That having been said, it was exceedingly mild compared to lots of
other Linux lists (linux-kernel has had some real nasty episodes
lately), both of the guys involved in it came to their senses quickly
and shut up publicly, and they both emailed me to say they regretted
their mistakes. I believe it was merely a momentary lapse of reason on
both of their parts, and I don't see any reason for it to go beyond
this message. One of the privileges of running this list is getting to
say when a thread is dead, which I don't know that I've ever done
before. So, there being a first time for everything, let's let this
one die quietly.

While I hesitate for you to say that too, if someone on this list
feels they are being unfairly maligned -- gee, whoever feels they are
being maligned fairly? -- the best course of action is either silence
or mailing me, or Chris Browne (aw, revenge is sweet!), about it so
that it can be stomped out before it spreads.
