[NTLUG:Discuss] telnet not working

Hello,
I just installed Mandrake 6.1 on a box.
It can be pinged from other machines,
but cannot be telnetted into. Here
is a session:

yzfr1 at orion:~ [1281] > telnet sirius
Trying 128.17.20.64...
Connected to sirius.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.


It disconnects in about a second.
