  one more thing, you might have to kill lpd, and rmmod lp if you still
have problems.  the lp and lpd drivers can cause conflicts.

  also, you should have (using lsmod)
parport_probe
parport_pc
parport

 in your module list after doing modprobe ppa or modprobe imm.
