: I have a generic PnP ethernet card which will not start automatically upon
: bootup. I have the card configured properly in /etc/isapnp.conf. When I reboot,
: I have to activate the card with "modprobe ne.o io=0x300" and then
: "/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart". My /etc/conf.modules file is:
:
: alias 255.255.255.0 ne
: options ne io=0x300 irq=5
:
: Any suggestions?

If you have a RedHat-based distro (could be others, but I'm not sure),
you should make sure that eth0 is set to come up on boot. In
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 you should have a line like:
ONBOOT="yes"
Hope this helps.
