I've found a pretty good medium between shopping e-tail and retail
through a local e-tailer called Viking Computers
(http://www.vikingcomputers.net). The advantage is that you get e-tail
prices with the ability of getting to a brick and mortor vendor. I've
never looked at their software catalogs but the hardware has a fair
range of choices. Prices are competative and if your not a won't pay
sales tax at any price shopper their right here in town (Carrollton),
which, if your willing to drive means no shipping.
I've also got to go along with the Microcenter comment on the book
section, as far as computer stores go. However, outside the Vista Ridge
mall there's a Borders (sp) bookstore that has an awsume Linux section
which is bigger than Microcenter and is usually priced better. I have
seen it where given 2 books 1 was cheaper at Microcenter and the other
was cheaper at Borders.
