I am having trouble getting my two linux ver 7 boxes to work.  I have good nics-3cometheriii's, lights on the hub, eth0 up at boot on both, ip addresses set up right with correct netmask, but cannot ping between them.  I did a full install custom on both boxes.  have host file set up and eth0 configured.  ip addresses are ip 192.168.1.50 hostname ppp.lan.com    and 2nd machine is ip 192.168.1.70 hostname station.lan.com.  Message when pinging, it keeps going like a ping does, says network unreachable.  when i deativate eth0 and ping i get a single message network unreachable.  Any ideas.

If i can ever get past this point i want to get more involved in the group
