One of the best ways to help the North Texas Linux Users Group is by
volunteering to do a presentation.
FAQs
1. I don't know enough to do a presentation?
You may be surprised at how much you really do know. The group needs
presentations which cover all kinds of audiences. So even if you
feel you are a beginner, that's fine... there's a ton of good
beginner topics to choose from. Sometimes sharing something that
you learned while getting into Linux can be made into a presentation
that many will thank you for.
2. I'd present, but I'll just go way over your head... so you don't want me?
Hmmm. My guess is that if you understand the subject matter that well,
you can probably present it in a way that can reach a broader audience.
If that still seems uncomfortable, feel free to use NTLUG as a proving
ground for enhancing a career promoting skill.
3. I don't have the time... one month isn't enough.
Not really a question :-)
We can schedule you many months down the road. You can use that time
to bounce ideas off of the discuss at ntlug.org list or with other members
through other means. I know I've always been willing to review
a presentation prior to it being done.
4. People will laugh at me if I look stupid, won't they?
Hasn't happened yet... (have you looked at the current officers?)
5. I don't have a laptop and I'm not going to bring my computer anywhere!
Ok. We can have overheads made. We can even help you get your stuff
onto overheads. You can use the program of your choice to produce
the information.... even if it comes from an OS out of Redmond.
If you need some equipment, I'm certain we can make some sort of arrangement...
either my laptop, or perhaps a loaner desktop (probably just at
the meeting though).

contact me again!!
Thanks,
Chris
