My company ownes Dept. stores, about 47 in all. All of them have a Linux box
and a printer attached running RH 5.2.
Hear in our computer room we have an Alpha Box running RH 6.0 with a printer
hanging off of it locally. My printcap file shows the local lp printer and the
47 remote printers.

The company that wrote our POS software has a Perl script that splits our sales
audit report by store and sends to the remote print queues and then prints a
summery report for us.

This worked well until about a week ago, all printing stoped. If I send
something to the local printer, it wont print until I stop and then start lpd.
But I can't get anything to print at the store levell, I receive the message:

lpr: connect: connection refused
jobes queued, but cannot start daemon.

I even went to the trouble of deleting all the printers and printer queues and
starting fresh, but the same thing happened.

What could be going wrong? Faxing the stores there reports is getting old.
