Carter,

I use to run RH5.2 and from time to time I'd have problems with my
printer seeming to lock up. The local had a problem similar to yours
where a print job wouldn't print out until the printer was reset. This
was with an HP 672C Inkjet and usually would show up after a print job
from a Windows 98 workstation sent a trashed print job (Samba) screwing
up the printer. The windows print job would spit out several pages with
1 line of control characters until the printer was switched off. After
getting the printer back on the other print jobs wouldn't make it to the
printer. What I found after some hair pulling was that the print job
was still listed on the Windows 98 print queue and until I deleted it
from there, or power cycle the windows box, I couldn't get the printer
to work right.

Also you might check if someone was working on your security measures on
the remote stations. If someone turned off access to the remote printer
service you won't be given a connection to send the print job through.

Good luck!
