I think that you have a chance.  I learned UNIX mostly on linux, and I am now
working on Solaris.  I think that the biggest chanllenge with working with
Solaris is the on the high end.  i.e. 64 processors,  64 gigs of
RAM, 20 Terabytes of storage via SAN.  The admin job can becomes quite
complex.

I think that you will find that you are quite comfortable on Solaris, but
there are new challenges and issues.  It is quite fun.
