  slowlaris can be purchased for the PC for a very cheap price (maybe
$79), from Sun.  Get it and play with it, and pretend competence. :)  

  RH/Mandrake Linux is Posix compliant and uses Sys V init scripts.
Basically, if you understand Linux's init system, you can understand the
init systems of HPUX, DGUX, Debian, Solaris, etc., from my _experience_ on
these systems.  There are minor differences that are easily grasped from
reading the text based init files and noting their locations in the file
tree.
