[NTLUG:Discuss] redhat 7.1 compile issue

Hi ntluggers,

Got a quick question:
I tried to compile the new 2.4.3 kernel on my redhat 7.1 installation in X
last night and kept dumping core when getting to blk_ioctl related stuff.
When I restarted the 'make bzImage' command it would make it a little
further and then dump core in blk_ioctl again. I rebooted and did a 'make
bzImage' from a standard console and it all worked fine. Would any of you
vernerable veterans care to speculate as to whether it was necessary to
reboot, I mean, do you think it was a process in X that went south or the
kernel or what? What is blk_ioctl anyway :)

Thanks,
