I had planned to offer more frequent updates about NTLUG's ITEC status.
But, due to a few unanticipated hang-ups (no I'm not using Windows),
that didn't work out.

But anyway, there are a few minor details to work out, but other than
that we are ready to GO!

TICKETS!

I have 500 complimentary tickets to ITEC to give away at our next
meeting. If you want a ticket you need to show up at our next meeting,
otherwise it's a $20 fee at the ticket window. I may consider mailing a
few tickets to those who can't make the meeting on Saturday. Send me
your PHYSICAL address directly to me via e-mail and I will mail a ticket
to you. All those wishing to attend ITEC, whether as an exhibitor or an
attendee, needs to register for the show at http://www.goitec.com .
Make sure you are registering for the Dallas ITEC, May 23-24.

Volunteers Needed!

Several people volunteered to man the booth at our last meeting in
April. Those and others who wish to participate need to send me the
times and which days they will be able to help.

Here are the show hours:

Booth Setup:
May 22nd (Tuesday) 8AM to 7PM

Show hours:
May 23-24 (Wednesday and Thursday) 10AM-4PM

Teardown:
May 24 (Thursday) 4:15PM-9:00PM

Donations are welcome!

For those who are not able to help man the booth, but still wish to help
in some way, we are in need of a few items for the booth to make it look
more "professional".

-Carpet We need a 10'x10' section of carpet to cover the booth floor
(this is required by the show). Otherwise we will have to rent some
carpet, and they charge ridiculous prices to do so. It doesn't have to
be expensive carpet, but we don't want AstroTurf(TM) type stuff either.
Preferably, it should be a low shag and have a light color. Foam
padding to go under the carpet is an option, but it would make things in
the booth a little more cozy. :-) Home Depot, and Lowes sell some
decent carpet that would work nicely.

-Tables We need a sturdy table to sit at the front of the booth to for
our demo equipment and information materials. The table we had last
year was just a fold up camping table that wasn't very sturdy. A good
folding table that is 6 to 8ft long, and about 3ft wide would be great.

Featured Guests!

A number of companies graciously have donated some equipment and table
collateral for use in our booth.

-Agenda Computing will be letting us use an Agenda VR3 for
demonstrations, as well as a large amount of "STUFF" to cover some of
our booth with.

-Sair Linux sent a box of information material about their programs,
along with several T-shirts to give away.

-VA Linux donated one of their servers, and several packs of tech/spec
sheets, bumper stickers, and OS CD's. Greg Pratt of VA has also
volunteered to represent VA in our booth for part of each day. Also,
thanks to the efforts of Chris Cox and Rick Spies, the VA server will
also be our wireless gateway to the internet during the show.

If anyone knows of a company that has a Linux based product, and would
like some representation at the show, please have them contact me.
There isn't much time left to prepare, but we will try to work them in
if possible.

For those wishing to volunteer, or have some information for me, my
e-mail address is jaguar at imagin.net.

Thanks again to all those volunteering their time, as well as those who
are donating something to help us spread the word about Linux and Open
Source.
