[NTLUG:Discuss] Crash course in RAID, please...

This isn't exactly a Linux question, but I would very much appreciate
whatever wisdom any of you kind folks can offer.

I need a "nut shell" overview of RAID: what each type is, as well as the
pros and cons of each type.

Background:
We run a "big name" RDBMS on a 2 node, highly available, Unix system,
with 2 RAID systems (one mirroring the other), in RAID 3.
We are preparing to move this all to a new Unix system, and we are
revisiting a lot of questions, including what kind of RAID would do the
best job for us.
