To: Smitty, Allen, William, and Mark, as well as the rest of the list:

Facts are not important to the department head.  The strong points of open source are
not important to the department head.  I was told that using Solaris would not be
appropriate because I would not be able to format my work in a manner the instructors
could access.  I used Solaris 8 and Star Office 5.1 and got an A in all the classes I
needed to use it in.  This is an issue of money, and the amount of discounts which
they get by getting the students to buy MS products.  That is all I have to say on
that issue.

My original question about IE and Linux has sort of been answered.  Next time I'll
just ask something simple and peacefule, like which distro is the best.  NOT!  Thanks,
