In reverse sequence:
... I'm quite active in RPM based host management, and the
development, support and management of tools which touch on
the RPM package topic for my employ.
I maintain several mirrors, public, non-public, and
secure, of several sites and packages for developmental
and maintenance purposes. With the advent of sub-$100 30 G
drives, and the deployment of broadband, it is pretty
straightforward with the 'mirror' package (present in RPM
format in the Powertools archive).
If you are interested in moving your application to RH 7.1, I
was involved with Red Hat in some of the implementation
decisions in moving to FHS layout compliance in the 7.x
series. It SHOULD be covered in the compatability layer;
initscript changes were the hardest to transition from RH 6.2
to 7.0. If your vendor followed some rather simple
rules, it should be 'do-able.' Contact me offlist if so.
