I am trying to install sound support on Linux Red Hat 7.0.
I am using the Audio/Modem Riser card on the Asus A7V133.
If I enable the card in the BIOS I get the start-up message "Loading via82cxxx:" and then the system hangs.

If I disable the card I get the following messages instead:
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/misc/via82cxxx.o:
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost rc.sysinit: Loading sound module (via82cxxx): failed
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: init_module: Device or resource busy
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/misc/via82cxxx.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/misc/via82cxxx.o failed
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/misc/via82cxxx.o: insmod via82cxxx failed

Using setup, I should be able to configure the sound card but it can't find it because it is disabled and when it tests
the selected VIA 82CXXX PCI Audio card, I get error messages similar to the above.

How can I get out of this chicken and egg situation?
Tia, Albert
