RedHat 7.0 on an Asus A7V133 with Audio/Modem Riser card:
When I enable sound card support in the BIOS I get a start-up message "Loading VIA82Cxxx:" and then the systems hangs.
If I disable sound card support I get the following messages but start-up continues:
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/misc/via82cxxx.o:
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost rc.sysinit: Loading sound module (via82cxxx): failed
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: init_module: Device or resource busy
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/misc/via82cxxx.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/misc/via82cxxx.o failed
Jun 19 09:05:47 localhost modprobe: /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/misc/via82cxxx.o: insmod via82cxxx failed
Setup doesn't work because it can't find the card but I can't enable the card because Linux won't boot.
How can I get out of this loop?
Tia, Albert
