[NTLUG:Discuss] Asking for a (shell) command

Hi All:
I remember there is a command that record the keyin command and outpot into 
a specified file. If any knows, please help. Thanks.
the following is an example:

>the_command    <--- the command I am asking
>file name?  test.txt
... begin...
>ftp 1.1.1.1     <--- start recording
connect to ...
ftp>login: mmm
ftp> passwd: ***
200 OK
400 ...
Quit
>
>a.out
111111
11111
22222
22222
>
>end (or exit)   <--- exit the command
the test.txt will look like this:

... begin...
>ftp 1.1.1.1     <--- start recording
connect to ...
ftp>login: mmm
ftp> passwd: ***
200 OK
400 ...
Quit
>
>a.out
111111
11111
22222
22222
>
...end....
