[NTLUG:Discuss] Strange Network Problem(s) on RedHat 7.1

I am having some really strange network problems with a new server that
I have just finished building with RedHat 7.1. In short, I'm having
problems with both the FTP & NFS server programs on that system. For
example, an attempt to FTP a file of 81920 bytes to the PC took nearly
2 and a half minutes:
81920 bytes sent in 149 secs (0.54 Kbytes/sec)
Transferring the file from the RH7.1 box back was much quicker:
81920 bytes sent in 0.22 secs (3.6e+02 Kbytes/sec)
An attempt to transfer another file of 16384 bytes via NFS resulted in
an I/O error:
cp: ./ipgw.tar: Input/output error
Going in the other direction with the same file produced no errors and
was completed
in the "blink of an eye".
I suspect that it most likely has something to do with the fact that
both the client and server PC's are on a 10.2.1.X network, but other
than that I have no idea what could be wrong. BTW the other PC that I
was using
in the test runs RH6.1
Any ideas?
George
