Victor has already answered about the taint switch, but there is a Perl
Mongers group in the area.  I can't seem to get to their web page at the
moment (http://dfw.pm.org), server problems I guess, but you can subscribe to
their mailing list at Majordomo at bronze.hex.net .  Perl technical questions are
posted and answered there, as well as announcements about meetings.
