[NTLUG:Discuss] Which dsl isps will survive? ( Directlink.net is going out of business )

What I am hearing is: "what is available in one's own area is the best
one, so go with it."
Mom & Pops, having shown that there really is a customer base, are being
squeezed out so a commodity product can be marketed, and delivered, in a
profitable manor. So, as the turf is carved up the customers will hear
that there are alternatives, but will only find one product available
where they each live, at an affordable price.
I could relate my own history (DSL - too far away; Cable - had to wait
forever but it is here; ATT Digital - I run Linux; wireless modem -
"construction" wasn't, and isn't, complete in my area), but complaining
seems a waste of energy. Until I can afford a private connection to the
Internet (and who knows if that will ever happen), I'll just have to go
this way.
My current thoughts are toward a "Web Hosted" site, but I'll have to
scrape together a few more pennies and some justification for that.
