to run on a x86 box, I don't know. Lots of sources for
other apps designed for touch screens tho, but all at
168x248 screen size.)

If your friend is building an x86 system, Metro X has
built in touch screen support (not sure about a
keyboard app tho.) This is a commercial X system
(available ~30.00).  Make sure your video card and
touch driver card are supported. For the touchscreen,
they support Carroll Touch, Citron CTS, Elo
TouchSystems, Lucas Deeco, & Microtouch (but not all
models for any of these companies.)
